  1. May I advise you to avoid wine for the length of your experiment? I hope you are open to this suggestion. Drinking significantly slow your progress.

Your body preferentially burns alcohol before fat - thus you are currently interfering with your own efforts to complete the experiment successfully. Once you stop drinking alcohol, you will soon ramp up your body's fat-burning capability.

You will succeed on Taubes' diet quickly if you eat about 1500 - 1700 calories a day, in the proportion of 25% protein, 65% fat, and 10% carbs from green leafy veggies. Drink your full-sodium chicken broth and eat 1/2 avocado a day if you feel yourself getting the "low-carb flu."

    Best wishes to you! :)

  2. I got this book for Christmas from a friend, and over a month after, finally decided to try it. I've been on it ten days myself, and reading over your food diary, I'm confused. Did I miss that I could eat nuts and some fruits or are you just eating those? I have literally had nothing but meat, veg and fats for 11 days now. I think I need to go back and re-read some to make sure I'm doing it right. I have lost weight, 7.2 pounds in 10 days, but it doesn't feel "healthy". I say that because although I feel fine, the foods I'm eating are lots of what I wouldn't normally eat. I'm determined though, as long as I can. Unlike you, I need to lose hundreds of pound. Enjoying your blog, btw, and quite jealous of your travels.
